Commenting on Blue Avocado
This comment policy was last updated on May 1, 2020, and is subject to change.
Blue Avocado is a unique space for the nonprofit community. We strive to create a vibrant and constructive online community where the nonprofit community can share and learn. We are providing the following guidelines for commenting on Blue Avocado articles.
Promotional Content. Blue Avocado contributors, editors, and readers are generous with their time and information. Subsequently, comments that are strictly promotional are inappropriate and will not be published on Blue Avocado forums or comment sections, unless a dedicated thread calls for promotion of either nonprofits or services that nonprofits and their communities may find useful.
General Comments. We welcome criticism and constructive guidance, and it is our policy to publish dissenting voices and opinions submitted through the comments section. We encourage a diversity of ideas. However, comments that do not add value to the discussion, or comments that harass, derail, devolve into a chorus of attacks, or otherwise operate on bad faith will be removed at the sole discretion of the Blue Avocado editorial team.
Blue Avocado is a free reliable resource for the sector, and contributors and editors allocate their time to research, respond to questions, and secure the input of experts such as consultants and attorneys as necessary.
- Readers are expected to maintain proper decorum.
- Contributors are expected to read comments in response to their articles and to reply as needed. While they are experts in their fields and often work in the same line of business as their expertise, contributors are expected to never advertise their services in the comments section and to keep responses courteous.
- In addition to carefully editing and curating content, editors are expected to dedicate a portion of their time to researching, contacting experts, and composing responses to comments that readers submit in response to a published article.
Reader Letters. Letters from readers may be published if there is value to the community. We require written permission to respond to a letter publicly or solicit an informative and thoughtful response from the Blue Avocado community.
Removing Content. The publisher retains the right to remove any comments from the site that are in violation of this policy.
