Here's one from me: I was the accountant at a job-training nonprofit and we had a group of very low-income people doing summer paid internships. On their last day, one of the men slouch-walked over to me and said, "I got my paycheck on time, right amount, every week, no hassles. Thanks." (People usually only say something about their paychecks when there's been a mistake.)
And in case you want to sing along with Billy Preston and Aretha Franklin:
Should auld acquaintance be forgot, and never brought to mind ?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot, and auld lang syne ?
For auld lang syne, my dear, for auld lang syne,
We'll take a cup of kindness yet, for auld lang syne.
