We at Blue Avocado are proud not only to be super-practical for community nonprofits, but to celebrate our sector with fun and quirkiness. This issue is a good example: on the practical side we take a fresh look at diversity on nonprofit boards and offer guidelines for managing H1N1 flu in the nonprofit workplace. On the inspiring side we have Thanksgiving-themed stories. And on the wacky side we have a 3-Minute Vacation making a Turkey Day craft at your desk plus a free Zen of Handwashing poster to print out and put up in your office and restrooms. What other nonprofit magazine would dare to send this combination of items to your inbox?
This Thanksgiving we thank our readers (those glass windows are from Thanks-giving Square) for thinking, arguing, and appreciating irony with us. We also salute our sponsors and donors for keeping Blue Avocado free to everyone who works and volunteers in community nonprofits. Together we are all fighting the good fight. — Jan Masaoka

This issue (Diversity, 3 Minute Thanksgiving project, the Zen of
Handwashing) is terrific – that is to say, not a chore to read! Thanks!
