Rick Cohen, Blue Avocado’s newest columnist, is also the Nonprofit Quarterly’s National Correspondent. He is known for his special investigations and analysis on the sometimes quite odd intersections between politics and nonprofits. Rick’s background includes community organizing, municipal government, executive positions at LISC, Jersey City government, and the Enterprise Foundation, and eight years as Executive Director of the National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy. In August of 2010, Rick was awarded a Gold Award from the American Society of Business Publication Editors for his article, “Obama’s Zone Offense” in Youth Today. Rick lives in Washington, D.C. where he never has a shortage of things to be grumpy about.
